Newlands is a busy neighborhood that enjoys the hustle and bustle of an exciting city with the friendly atmosphere of a small town. Located in north-central Boulder, Newlands has plenty of parks to explore and a natural playground due to the magnificent foothills near which the area is nestled. It’s a highly sought-after place to live and an incredible place to raise a family. Originally a large orchard, the area still has apple trees planted by the Newland family long ago. Whether you’re looking for state-of-the-art recreation or unique shopping and restaurants, Newlands has it all.

 

Families are willing to splurge on the gorgeous homes in this community due to the neighborhood’s desirable central locale and exceptional views of the mountains. Residents enjoy the kindred spirit of the neighborhood (they have their very own community-based volunteer organization that plans activities) and appreciate the excellent variety of home styles. You’ll find everything from housing that was meticulously constructed in the early 1900s to newer custom homes that are sleek and modern. There’s plenty to do in Newlands — especially when it comes to getting outdoors. The hiking trails at Mount Sanitas are stunning and lined by wildflowers. North Boulder Park is a popular destination comprised of baseball and soccer fields; it’s a wonderful space for kids to get active or for families to host a summer barbecue. North Boulder Recreation Center has amazing pool areas (with a water slide), courts, a gymnastics center, and classes for every age. You can even go Nordic skiing every winter!

 

Need to shop? You can find fresh, organic foods at the fun and quirky Ideal Market or head to the nearby Pearl Street Mall, an incredible, walkable shopping area that spans several blocks in Downtown Boulder.
